Jaw Shape

Short Face Skeletal

Short face patients have faces that appear ‘squashed’ at the lower third of the face. This over-closure causes premature aging of the face.

Patients with a short face often have a deep bite. They may grind and clench their teeth causing teeth to be shorter, which supports the height of the face.

Loss of back molar teeth because of severe gum problems, crack teeth or decay can contribute to a short face as the vertical support of the face is loss.

Treatment ranges from Botox injections masseteric hypertrophy, teeth protection via night guards, restoring the damaged teeth.
