OUR BELIEFS

At MyBracesClinic, we believe in constant innovation to stay on top of our game because everything we do, we can always do better.

We achieve this by harnessing the power of technology to communicate clearly and deliver effective evidence-based treatment. We sincerely want to help you smile better and it starts with our first ‘hello’.

OUR CULTURE

We love what we do which is problem solving and creating smiles.

Equally important to us is understanding whom we have lifted; whose lives we have touched and being part of the community that we love.

We do this by: Teaching, providing mentorship and internship programs; getting involved in the community and giving back.

Making a Difference

TEACHING

”The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery” ~Mark Van Doren

Dr Poon Kee Hwang taught the Postgraduate Orthodontic Masters Program as a Clinical Supervisor for the National University of Singapore. Though she is currently taking a break due to clinic and family life commitments, she is deeply passionate about teaching and can’t wait to contribute back to the Dental Faculty soon.

Dr Poon was honored to be invited back to Raffles Institution to share with students and parents about what it means to be an Orthodontist and why digital technology disrupting dentistry is a good thing! Dr Kelvin Khng, is our Specialist Prosthodontist and he lectures at local and overseas conferences on topics ranging from All-On-Four implant dentistry to management of edentulous patients. He also finds time from his busy schedule to share his knowledge at the Undergraduate Program at National University of Singapore.

We love kids and it shows!

In conjunction with Singapore Dental Health Foundation, MyBracesClinic conducts fun and interactive dental education talks for the preschools in our vicinity so that young ones can adopt good oral care techniques and learn about teeth-friendly diet and habits.

Over the years, we have hosted the kids from Pats’ School House and have also visited schools to share good dental hygiene and dietary tips. The kids and MyBracesClinic’s Tooth Fairies had fun exploring dental health topics in fun and interactive ways! Drop us an email if you’d like MyBracesClinic’s Tooth Fairies to visit your school. In recognition of our love and speciality in treating kids, MyBracesClinic was voted by parents to best in the category for ‘Children’s Specialist Orthodontic Clinic’ by YoungParents Singapore.

You will never leave us in the dark anymore

Mentorship and Interns

“Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen and a push in the right direction” ~ John C. Crosby

In the past few years, MyBracesClinic has mentored a select number of bright and amazing interns.

We challenged them to think (and even speak) differently and showed them that dentistry and orthodontics is not always what they thought it to be.

There is no sugarcoating the truth about the amount of hard work it will involve. Only sincere passion, deep perseverance and clarity of thought will see them through this career path. To date, we still keep in contact with our interns and cheer them on as they walk their own paths after their internship.

Our Towdah Orphanages

It’s interesting how we adopted the Towdah Indonesian orphanages.

The founding lady of these orphanages is our patients’ mom! We always chat with our patients and their family and when C. shared her vision and dream, we were nervous and honestly, pretty worried. Why?

Because she wanted to set up a safe haven for kids in a foreign, unfamiliar land!

This gentle, petite lady started with just an earnest desire to help young, abandoned and disadvantaged kids. She wanted to show these kids that there is love and teach them skills that will empower them to contribute back to society.

We believe in C’s dream and we wanted to support her in our own ways. To date, MyBracesClinic has raised more than SGD 10,000 for the Towdah kids. Our own tooth fairy, Dr Poon Kee Hwang has also conducted dental education and screening sessions in both the Bintan and Batam Towdah orphanages.

In order to achieve sustainability and to teach the kids farming skills, the Towdah goat farm was started in January 2017. MyBracesClinic has gamely sponsored three lady goats and named them Riang (Joy), Kasih (Love) and Manis (Sweet).

Our patients are awesome too! We have successfully run a ‘School Food Drive’ for the Towdah orphanages and have been deeply moved by the generosity and kindness of our patients. Click here if you’d like to find out more about Towdah Orphanages.
